RESUMEN.- La esquila invernal preparto puede aumentar el peso al nacer de los corderos pero afectar la capacidad de las ovejas para enfrentar el estrés térmico (termorregulación). Aunque se han estudiado factores de variación en la respuesta al estrés de la esquila invernal, no conocemos trabajos que hayan evaluado la influencia de la preñez en la respuesta metabólica durante la primera semana posesquila. Se utilizaron 15 ovejas Merino Australiano de la Estación Experimental Facultad de Agronomía Salto, esquiladas en julio con peine standard. ......................................... ABSTRACT.- Pre-partum winter shearing can increase lamb birth weight but may affect ewes' ability to cope with thermal stress (thermoregulation). While various factors influencing the response to winter shearing stress have been studied, the impact of pregnancy on metabolic response during the first week post-shearing has not been extensively investigated. Fifteen Australian Merino ewes from the Experimental Station, Faculty of Agronomy, Salto, were shorn in July using a standard comb.
