ABSTRACT - The use of fruit coatings aims to avoid dehydration, minimize the occurrence of spots in the peel and weight loss as well as extend the postharvest life maintaining fruit appearance. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of different fruit coatings in fruit quality, weight loss and acetaldehyde and ethanol production in differ-ent mandarin and orange varieties, during postharvest storage.

ABSTRACT. -In this study, the Strawberry Innovation System in Salto (SIS) is analyzed, characterizing its main actors, according to their role and level of involvement. Technological innovations in the sector took place through a process that integrated the information generated by public research with the traditional culture of the region's producers, giving rise to alternative technologies that allowed the sustainable intensification of production.

ABSTRACT. Citrus psorosis virus (CPsV) is the causal agent of psorosis, an important disease of citrus. Sanitary and certification programmes helped reduce disease damage caused by psorosis and other graft‐transmissible diseases in many citrus‐growing regions. For quarantine and certification programmes, most of these diseases are currently diagnosed using biological indexing (BI) on sensitive indicator plants.

ABSTRACT. Drought stress is one of the most important factors limiting soybean [Glycine max (L.) Merr.] productivity and reducing yield stability. Soybean breeders need phenotypic and genotypic tools to improve drought stress tolerance, but most of available strategies are expensive and unaffordable for small-scale public breeding programs. In this study, elite germplasm of a locally adapted breeding population was used to estimate a yield stability index as an indicator of drought response.

ABSTRACT. Onion downy mildew (DM) caused by Peronospora destructor is a very destructive leaf disease. Genetic resistance is an economic and environmentally friendly way of disease control. In this research, the segregation of DM resistance was analysed in six offspring from crosses between national cultivars and the cv. ?Regia?, a partial resistance source. F1 plants were self-fertilised, and F1S1 derived progenies were evaluated. The segregations in DM severity were skewed towards susceptibility, with transgressive segregation in five of six progenies.
