ABSTRACT.- In highly modified agricultural settings, it is now necessary to consider the management of plant diseases, insect pests and weeds within the One Health concept, to acknowledge that the health of plants, animals, environment and people are interlinked and interdependent. Articles included in this special issue of Sociedad Uruguaya de Fitopatología contribute to communicate scientific advances that will foster the sustainable management of diseases, pests and weeds in Uruguay and neighbouring countries.

ABSTRACT.- Performance-based funding and calls for public-funded science to demonstrate societal impact are encouraging public research organisations to evaluate impact, the so-called impact agenda. This paper explores evaluation methods of four fully or partially public-funded agricultural research organisations and how they are building evaluative capacity to respond to the impact agenda. Drawing on cross-organisational comparison of the readiness of each organisation to implement evaluation, the implications for improving evaluative capacity building (ECB) are discussed.

Abstract:Herbicide resistance is currently one of the most important problems in agricultural systems, threatening their sustainability. In Uruguay, there have been increasing reports of herbicide failures to control LOLMU (Lolium multiflorum Lam.) populations. However, methodical characterization of herbicide resistance cases is lacking.

El proceso de formulación del nuevo Plan Estratégico Institucional (PEI) contó con la participación y aportes de todos los investigadores del Instituto. El éxito de INIA en el cumplimiento de sus cometidos reside y depende fundamentalmente del trabajo y desempeño de sus funcionarios. En el período 2021-2025, INIA se propone mejorar ampliamente sus procesos de gestión del capital humano, con el objetivo de incrementar la motivación, compromiso y creatividad de sus colaboradores, fortalecer el trabajo en equipo y mejorar significativamente el clima institucional.

Resultados obtenidos por productores en sus predios m muestran que, simples y oportunos ajustes en la frecuencia e intensidad de pastoreo y en la fertilización con nitrógeno, permiten combinar una alta cosecha de pasto con buenas eficiencias de conversión para alcanzar altas producciones ganaderas.
