Developing livestock breeding strategies for enteric methane mitigation in developing countries - the case of Latin America.

ABSTRACT.- Latin America (LA) is one of the main providers of meat and fibres of the world, comprising 30% and 6% of cattle and sheep stock in the world. The region has the largest reserve of land with agricultural potential determined by 16% of the world's agricultural land and 33% of its unused agricultural area. LA countries play a key role for food security not only in the region, but also for the rest of the world (OECD et al., 2023).
