ABSTRACT. - The VIII Latin American Meeting Prunus without Borders was held from November 6th to 8th, 2019 at INIALas Brujas, Rincón del Colorado, Canelones, Uruguay. This meeting was organized by the Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agropecuaria (INIA) of Uruguay and with the support of the Ministerio de Ganadería, Agricultura y Pesca (MGAP), Dirección General de la Granja (DIGEGRA) and the local authorities:Departmental Government of Canelones.
Characterization and functioning of the strawberry innovation system in Salto. [Caracterización y funcionamiento del sistema de innovación de frutilla en Salto.]. [Caracterização e funcionamento do sistema de inovação de morango em Salto.]
ABSTRACT. -In this study, the Strawberry Innovation System in Salto (SIS) is analyzed, characterizing its main actors, according to their role and level of involvement. Technological innovations in the sector took place through a process that integrated the information generated by public research with the traditional culture of the region's producers, giving rise to alternative technologies that allowed the sustainable intensification of production.

ABSTRACT. - Peach production is of great economic importance in the Southern Cone of South America, having gone through great technological changes since its introduction during the time of Spanish and Portuguese colonies. The evolution of this crop has been determined by edaphoclimatic peculiarities, as well as by the culture and econ-omy of each country. The aim of this work is to summarize in one document the current situation and the specific characteristics of peach growing in Uruguay, Brazil, and Argentina.

Nitrogen fertilisation during spring delayed heat stress in tall fescue (Lolium arundinaceum Schreb.) swards.[La fertilización nitrogenada durante primavera retrasó el estrés térmico en pasturas de Festuca alta (Lolium arundinaceum Schreb.)].
Conclusions:Adding N fertiliser during spring could be an effective way of reducing heat stress in tall fescue swards. Reducing grazing intensity also appears to be important, but to a lesser extent than N fertilisation.

Conclusions: During the seedling stage, more than 10 kg of bare seed ha-1 are required to reach the minimum recommended number of plants (250 pl m-2). Even when data indicates that as little as 5 kg ha-1 of bare seed are enough to reduce the time it takes the stand to reach the threshold of minimal plant density by ~400 days, increasing sowing rate to >10 kg ha-1 appears to be necessary to reduce weed competition and the costs associated with herbicides.
