ABSTRACT.- A telephone survey (n = 601) was conducted in Uruguay to explore participants? mental associations with meat and the underlying reasons changes in the quantity and type of meat consumed. Participants mentioned mostly positive associations with meat?s culinary and cultural aspects and its nutritional value as source of high-quality protein. Other associations were related to meat production, specific types of meat and cuts, meat consumption and pleasure, while price was perceived negatively.

Tras 30 años de trabajo en el sector forestal, el Ing. Agr. Juan Pedro Posse asumió el pasado 18 de abril como nuevo director de la estación experimental del Instituto Nacional de Investigación Agropecuaria (INIA) en Tacuarembó. Con una impronta transversal en el uso de los recursos y las capacidades, el jerarca adelantó que le interesa profundizar las líneas de trabajo relacionadas a la sostenibilidad, la integración productiva y los protocolos de medición de indicadores en los diferentes sistemas.
