ABSTRACT.- This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different doses of equine chorionic gonadotropin (eCG; 200 and 300 IU) administered at the end of a fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) treatment protocol on ovulation, pregnancy, and twin rates in Bos taurus beef heifers. In addition, pregnancy losses in heifers with singleton and twin pregnancies were determined.

ABSTRACT.- Accurate prediction of phenology is the most critical aspect for the development of models aimed at estimating seed yield, particularly in species that exhibit variable sensitivity to environmental factors throughout the cycle and among genotypes. With this purpose, we evaluated the phenology of 34 soybean varieties in field experiments located in Argentina, Uruguay and Paraguay.

Toxoplasmosis poses a substantial risk as a globally prevalent foodborne zoonotic disease. This disease does not only impact public health, but also results in noteworthy economic losses for countries dependent on rural activities, particularly those associated to the livestock industry, particularly pronounced in sheep and goats, where reproductive failure is a prevailing consequence. With a history deeply rooted in sheep farming, Uruguay ranks as the fifth-largest global exporter of sheep meat and the third-largest exporter of combed wool.

The dairy industry of Uruguay has long been a fundamental driver of national economic and social development. However, after 30 years of dynamic growth (> 4.5% annual accumulative rate; 1985-2015), a predominantly stagnant period has ensued. Indeed, the Uruguayan dairy chain faces deep and multifaceted economic, productive, and environmental challenges. Beyond the last decade restrictive and volatile global conditions for dairy exporting countries, Uruguayan dairy farmers face local and particular challenges that entice them to reestablish the grounds for sustainable competitive growth.
