RNAi in Piezodorus guildinii (Hemiptera - Pentatomidae):Transcriptome assembly, machinery analysis and in-vivo response towards the development of new pest control strategies. [Conference Proceedings - Poster 577].
Red-banded stink bug Piezodorus guildinii (P. guildinii) has been described as the most damaging stink bug regarding soybean crops, leading to seed injury, low germination percentages and foliar retention, even at low population densities. In this work the first P. guildinii transcriptome from a pool of all developmental stages was assembled, annotated and RNAi components were analyzed.
Efficient implementation of random regression models for dairy cattle genomic evaluations. [1141 - abstract].
ABSTRACT.- Random regression models (RRM) with ssGBLUP are used worldwide for dairy cattle genetic evaluations. This study aimed to improve the efficiency of implementing RRM with ssGBLUP for national dairy evaluations using the BLUPF90 software suite and to test a method to approximate reliabilities with genomic information.
Approximating reliabilities of indirect predictions based on SNP effects from large single-step genomic best linear unbiased prediction evaluations. [1520 - abstract].
ABSTRACT.- With the algorithm for proven and young (APY), the computing cost of ssGBLUP is linear with the number of noncore animals and cubic with the number of core, which is less than 20K for single breed and 50k for multibreed evaluations.

Growing up side by side:Social attachment between twin lambs and the role of the mother's presence.
ABSTRACT.- Twin lambs establish a social attachment soon after birth, which implies that they prefer to interact with each other during the suckling period. However, the role of the mother's presence in maintaining the social attachment between twins has been scarcely studied. The aims of this study were to characterize the dynamics of the distance between twin lambs during lactation until three months after weaning, and to determine the impact of the mother in this regard.
Modeling missing pedigree with metafounders and validating single-step genomic predictions in a small dairy cattle population with a great influence of foreign genetics.
ABSTRACT.- Genetic improvement in small countries rely heavily on foreign genetics. In an importing country such as Uruguay, consideration of unknown parent groups (UPG) for foreign sires is essential. However, the use of UPG in genomic model evaluations may lead to bias in genomic estimated breeding values (GEBV). The objective of this study was to study different models including UPG or metafounders (MF) in the Uruguayan Holstein evaluation and to analyze bias, dispersion, and accuracy of GEBV predictions in BLUP and single-step genomic BLUP (ssGBLUP). © 2024, The Authors.
A straightforward technique to obtain genomic DNA from nasal swabs suitable for sheep SNP genotyping analysis. [Técnica simple para obtener ADN genómico adecuado para análisis de genotipado en ovinos a partir de hisopados nasales.]. [Uma técnica simples para obter DNA genômico a partir de esfregaços nasais adequado para análise de genotipagem em ovinos.]
ABSTRACT.- Isolation of high quality and quantity genomic DNA is essential for molecular studies. It is crucial to select a non-invasive and straightforward technique to ensure the efficient collection of DNA, particularly at the farm level. The aim of this study was to determine if nasal swabs are an appropriate biological matrix to obtain good quality genomic DNA suitable for SNP genotyping. In this study, two biological matrices (blood and nasal swabs) were evaluated and compared for the isolation of genomic DNA obtained from 15 female Texel sheep.
