Detection of follicles in ultrasound videos of bovine ovaries.
Ultrasound imaging is a veterinarian standard procedure for the monitoring of ovarian structures in cattle. Recent studies, suggest that the number of antral follicles can give a cue of the future fertility of a specimen. Therefore, there has been a growing interest in counting the number of antral follicles at early stages in life. In the most typical procedure, the operator performs a trans-rectal ultrasound scan and counts the follicles on the live video that is seen in the ultrasound machine.
Diseases produced by Clostridium perfringens type D:chapter 13.
Summary: Enterotoxemia caused by Clostridium perfringens type D, sometimes also called overeating disease or pulpy kidney disease, is a prevalent clostridial disease of sheep and goats. This chapter discusses the etiology, epidemiology and pathogenesis, clinical signs, diagnosis, prophylaxis, and treatment of diseases produced by C. perfringens type D. Type D enterotoxemia in sheep is a pure enterotoxemia, with no bacterial invasion of tissues, whereas in goats it may be a pure enterotoxemia, a localized enteric disease, or a combination of both. C.

Involvement of plant hormones in cold stress tolerance.
ABSTRACT. The adaptation and survival of plants in challenging environments involve changes at the cellular and molecular levels. In particular, cold acclimation that is due to gradual exposure to low nonfreezing temperatures includes structural and morphological modifi cations, changes in cell membrane composition, and an accumulation of compatible solutes among other cryoprotective compounds. These processes are governed by plant hormones that are also involved in the adaptation to other abiotic and biotic stresses.
